This, I promise you, is the chocolate cake of all chocolate cakes. It is the moistest, richest, most amazing chocolate cake you will ever eat. Ever. Seriously. I have been making this cake for years, and everyone who tries it asks for the recipe- I promise this cake will not disappoint.
This cake is actually a devils food cake, and I pair it with my chocolate frosting. It is the only one that I ever use and it turns out perfect every time! I also drizzle some melted chocolate chips on top, and it gives a cool effect.
I think that a large part of what makes this cake so moist and amazing is the one cup of hot coffee. The batter is so thin when you make it, so please don't be scared when you see the finished product, that is exactly how it is supposed to be:)

Devil's Food Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup hot coffee
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
2. In a large mixing bowl (I use my stand mixer), sift together all of the dry ingredients. Add the oil, coffee and milk and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and beat 2 more minutes. Expect the batter to be thin.
3.Pour into 2- 9" round pans. Bake for about 30 minutes. Cool in pans for about 15 minutes and then cool completely on racks.
NOW, LET'S FROST!
Chocolate Frosting
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Melt the butter, and than stir in the cocoa powder. You will need either an electric mixer or a stand mixer for this, it can get tricky without one. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, and beat to a good consistency. Stir in vanilla:)
